Hardwood Maintenance Tips
Never use Murphy's Oil Soap, Orange Glow, lemon oil, or the like! It will make re-coating your floor next to impossible and leave behind a dull residue.
Light damp mop only. Never use a rag mop. Make sure you know what your housekeeper is using--we have seen many floors ruined by an untrained housekeeper.
Keep throw rugs at entry doors to catch grit. Watch for wear in heavy traffic areas. Call your flooring contractor when it's time to re-coat.
Preventative maintenance is key. A properly maintained floor can last for generations to come. Re-coating periodically (3-5 years depending on use) costs considerably less than refinishing and can be done, in most cases, in a single day rather than a week of complete refinishing.
